First Home Insurance Requests a 40% Rate Hike

Florida officials recently held a hearing on a statewide average home insurance rate hike of 39.3 rate increase for First Home Insurance Co., a Florida domiciled insurance company based in Maitland, Florida. This is not a company that we represent currently at the Culbertson Agency. This is a statewide average, however, rates could vary by area.

More than 27% of the nation’s stages accidents reported in the first half of 2009 occurred in Florida. Five of America’s 10 worst cities for losses related to staged accidents and questionable claims are in Florida: Tampa (#2), Orlando (#4), Miami (#5), West Palm Beach (#7) and Hialeah (#10). Central Florida accounts for more than 25% of the questionable claims in the state.
