Slide Insurance has acquired a lot of United Property & Casualty policies and that includes many of our clients.

This is excellent news!

The Florida property insurance market has been in turmoil for months now, with more companies announcing insolvency or leaving the state.

We had to prepare our clients to re-write their policies when United Property & Casualty (UPC) announced they’d be exiting the state of Florida in August 2022.

With limited available carriers at the moment, especially since Citizens (the state insurance of last resort) is the only other option in most cases, this acquisition gives our clients options.

We are thankful to Slide Insurance for including a portion of UPC policies as part of their offering.

The Short Version

  • The Culbertson Agency had to prepare their clients for re-writing policies when United Property & Casualty (UPC) announced they’d be exiting in August 2022.
  • Slide Insurance has acquired some of the UPC policies, providing limited available carriers with options.
  • There is no lapse in coverage as Slide Insurance began coverage on 2/1 and will continue until the expiration of the current policy term; no action is needed from clients other than paying premium payments on time.
  • If you have a mortgage or UPC insurance, you don’t need to do anything; payment instructions will be sent to you.
  • Open claims filed with UPC before February 1, 2023, are denied by Slide Insurance.
  • Slide Insurance Company is a trusted provider of quality homeowner’s insurance in Florida.

There Will Be No Lapse In Coverage

Slide Insurance began coverage on 2/1 and will continue to provide coverage through the expiration of the current policy term.

There’s No Action You Need to Take

You don’t have to do anything else other than pay your premiums in a timely manner for you to keep enjoying the coverage.

If you’ve already paid for coverage, no additional steps are needed. Your unearned premium will be transferred to Slide and your protection will remain in place until the expiration of your Slide policy period.

There’s No Need to Notify Your Mortgage Company

Slide Insurance will let your mortgage company know and give them all the information they need. If your mortgage company pays for your insurance, Slide Insurance will send an invoice to your mortgage company so they can pay for it.

No Need to Make Additional Payments

If you still owe money for your UPC insurance, you must pay the rest of it to keep your coverage, but if your mortgage company pays for it, Slide Insurance will send an invoice to them.

In the case that you pay for it yourself, Slide Insurance will send you an invoice with payment instructions.

No Need to Contact Slide Insurance About Open UPC Claims

Slide is only responsible for claims that happened on February 1, 2023, or later and they won’t have any information about any other existing claims with UPC Insurance.

No Need to Resubmit Your Claim

If you have already filed a claim with UPC, do not file it with Slide Insurance and they will deny your claim because the loss happened before February 1, 2023.
